Announcing the Fall Game Workshop Series

Applications have closed, but you can still attend the workshops! Read on to learn more. Buffalo Game Space is proud to announce the first Fall Game Workshop Series. BGS is offering up to six students the opportunity to attend this series of workshops covering every aspect of game development free of charge, as well as offering coworking and equipment access. From September 6 to November 29 BGS will be offering workshops covering every element of game creation and development, from the basics of game design to the essentials of programming, creating art and music, storytelling and more. The workshop series will conclude in a game jam where attendees will work in teams to create a game in 48 hours using the lessons learned from the workshops. RECAP: BGS Game Dev Meeting 9/3/15

If hanging out in a room full of talented and creative individuals gets your mojo moving, then Thursday nights at Buffalo Game Space are going to be HUGE for you. Let’s take a look at some of the projects and ideas shared at the last BGS Game Dev Meeting. Greg opened the night by demonstrating the fish simulation he prepared for the recent Shutshimi release party. By adding Kinect functionality to existing code, he projected the illusion of tiny fish swimming away from anybody who walked close enough to spook them. It was a hit at the party. Next, he busted out a microcontroller project that he’s been working on. Greg explained that microcontrollers are basically low powered computers often used for physical computing and used in things like vending machines and TVs.
