Buffalo Game Space is proud to announce BGSJAM 4, the fourth official game jam hosted by BGS! Taking place from June 12th at 7pm to June 14th at 7pm, participants will brainstorm ideas based around a theme (to be announced at the jam), assemble teams and, in 48 hours, create some amazing games!
Theme submission for BGSJAM4 is now closed, which means it's time to start voting! Click here to submit your preliminary vote on the theme for BGSJAM 4! (NOTE: You must have a Google account to vote) We're also once again taking submissions for the theme! You can send in your ideas by filling out our Theme Submission form - feel free to submit as many themes as you like by May 22nd!
What's a game jam?
Wikipedia describes a game jam as follows:
A game jam is a gathering of game developers for the purpose of planning, designing, and creating one or more games with in a short span of time, usually ranging between 24 and 72 hours. Game developers are generally made up of programmers, game designers, artists, and others in game development-related fields.
BGSJAM 4 is a 48 hour game jam taking place from 7pm on June 12th to 7pm on June 14th. Each game is developed around a theme, which is picked prior to the event via a simple submission and voting system.
If you'd like to submit some ideas for what the theme should be, simply fill out this form before May 22nd. You can fill it out as many times as you like to submit as many themes as you can come up with! Note that duplicate themes will be ignored, and themes deemed too similar during the voting process will be combined. This year we got a whopping 40 theme ideas submitted! Help us narrow it down by submitting a response via the preliminary theme voting form! This form will be available till June 7th, with the "Final Four" vote going live June 8th!
How do I participate?
Anyone can participate! BGSJAM 4 is free and open to both members and the public. And no matter your skill level, you'll be sure to get something great out of participating in a game jam. Talk to anyone who's jammed before and they'll tell you it's an incredible experience. All you need is an open mind and a willingness to learn something.
Should I bring anything?
You can bring anything that will help you work on whatever it is you want to work on. It's highly recommended that you bring your own laptop or computer setup at the very least. There's ample room at the Space for you to set up your gear, and you can leave it there overnight if you like with the confidence that it's well secured. Snacks and drinks will be available on site as well.
